Girlfriend and I are looking to take the toy hauler on it's maiden voyage end of April. Want to go April 28th through May 4th. We are in Cleveland, Ohio and she wants to go somewhere warmer and near water. I know North Carolina is about 11 hours. Anywhere else that would be a good recommendation? Anyone camped in the Outer Banks?

That would be a great time to go anywhere in the Tennessee or NC mountains. Might not be warm enough to suit you, but beautiful.

Florida is still nice in April and May, and the snowbirds have gone home. Much easier to find a place to stay.

You might consider Myrtle Beach, Charleston, or Savannah, in order of north to south. Weather should be nice that time of year in any of these locations, and it's a fairly straight shot from Cleveland.

Define "warmer"? How warm do you want it to be?TN is already seeing day temps near 80 with nights in the 60s.

We are heading to the Outter Banks in mid May. We will be staying at the National Park's Frisco Campground. They do not have hookups but allow generator use during certain hours. The sites are hidden among the dunes and you're not packed next to each other like in many private campgrounds.

I spent the month of May last year camping in the OBX (Ocean Waves). Went there to escape the heat at home (it's already been 90 degrees the last two days). OBX was very pleasant. Will spend May at Ocean Waves again this May.

Ditto for Myrtle Beach or head south to the campground at Tybee Island which is near Savannah.

Just remember, anything near the ocean is going to be cooler because the water hasn't had a chance to warm up yet. Water temp along the SC coast at that time will still be around 65*.

We did OBX in May a couple of years ago. It was plenty warm. The KOA in Rodanthe has sites right on the other side of the dunes from the ocean. There are a couple of campgrounds with sites on the sound.

We're doing Assateague this May. Consider Delaware/Maryland/Virginia shore.

Gulf Shores, Alabama - gorgeous beach, fun little town, good restaurants. Gulf State Park is very nice to stay.

We were in South Carolina at one of their great state parks the week after Christmas. Temps were GREAT, in the middle 50's the whole time. It was too cold for swimming, but sure was gorgeous!

A year ago in March we went to McCormic State Park in South Carolina.

But here again, this isn't along the Atlantic Ocean or Gulf Beach front, but if you like trees and water, South Carolina is great!
