In a few weeks we will be traveling west on I-10 into Texas. Looking for a place to stop overnight near Orange Texas that is not to far off of I-10. Found 2 listed on rvparkreviews but reviews are dated. Thanks.

We'll be headed your way to Alabama this spring. Citronelle, and then probably up to Lake Guntersville. Nice country.

Txgear.. Houston east RV Resort Yes we have been there before. Very nice park. We are very familiar with the Texas Welcome Center, just haven't been there with camper. If the trailers with the bathrooms are still out front, this probably means they have not finished repairs since the spring floods as several of the buildings and road were damaged.

Issac-1 Thanks for the Lake Charles info.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Yes. It is still closed. The Texas Welcome Center is open, but the LA Welcome Center is still under construction.

Second it on Gulf Coast RV right off I-10. We have also stayed at the SP in Lake Charles, and the TX Welcome center with over nite security. They are all good!

As has been mentioned there are a LOT of petro-chem construction projects going on in the area so lots of construction workers in the RV parks. Having said that if you want to stop on the east side of Lake Charles about 40 miles from Orange, you might check out Little Lake Charles RV park / former Jellystone RV park. I have never stayed there, but drive by there on the way to my sister in law's house east of Lake Charles and see they seem to have put some money into redoing the place in the last year, at least fixing up the entrance and actively trying to host events. It is a couple of miles off I-10, go north at exit 36 and take a left on Luke Powers road at the water tower, the road will make a sharp right, then their driveway is at the next corner where the road makes a sharp left.

There is also Jean Lafitte RV park north of exit 36, just a couple of hundred feet north of the previously mentioned turn onto Luke Powers Rd. It is much more no frills, gas station / c store with rows of rv hook ups out back. I would not stay there, don't really feel safe at the gas station, only reason I go in there is all the other gas stations at that exit are worse.

About 1-2 miles north of there there is a nice little parish (county) park on the river with a boat lunch and a few RV spots, rates are reasonable $12 per night with hookups the name is White Oak Park.

There are also a couple of parish parks with RV facilities on the west side of Lake Charles around Sulphur, I can't say much about them as I have not been to any of them in many years. Sulphur is also where much of the petro-chem construction is going on so much higher chances of construction workers camping out in the area.

p.s. if you want some good relatively cheap Cajun food in the area with room to park an RV check out Holliers in Sulphur they have 2 locations, the one on Hwy 108 (Cities Services Hwy, same exit as Cracker Barrel) is just north of I-10 just past Lowes on the right (it is in front of an old K-mart which has been turned into self storage so LOTS of parking options. The buffet is ok, but the best stuff is on the menu, portion sizes are huge. They also have a meat market in the same building if you want some food to take with you.

If you don't mind dry camping, there is a walmart on north main street, (HWY 105) in Vidor Tx.

It is approx 15 mins from Orange. I see RVs parked there a lot. It is located several blocks from I-10, (I-10 is real noisy). Will be lot less noisy.

Beaumont Tx has a high-ranked RV park on the west side of town. It is called Gulf Coast RV.
It is located next to the east-bound service road of I-10. Has all concrete pull throughs. It will be approx 30 mins from Orange Tx.

You may want to come on a little farther west. If I had to choose I guess I would stay at Houston east RV Resort. On the south side of I-10 so I think you would exit at HWY 146 and U-turn under the freeway and run the frontage road east bound. I'm pretty sure it used to be a KOA.
You should realize that there are massive nat gas LNG projects, petrochemical plants, and pipelines under construction and there are a lot of small RV parks in the area full of construction workers.
The Chevron Olefins Plant under construction on the north side of I-10 at Cedar Bayou should give you an idea of the scale of these projects.

Actually that Texas welcome center may not be a bad idea. It's relatively new. I believe there is security there overnight.
I drove by there the day before yesterday and they had small trailers out front for restrooms. Must be doing some major repairs to the existing restrooms. If that is an issue I would call TxDOT for an update. I really can't think of a RV park right around there except the one right next to I-10 at Vidor on a lake. Looks like a lot of permanents in it.
Is Coushatta Casino on HWY165 at Kinder Louisiana too far off I-10 for you?
Let me think a while, I live near by.

Maybe not what you ask for, but we have spent nights at both the Texas Welcome Center and the Louisiana Welcome Center. Might like the Texas Welcome better. They have a good WiFi signal.
