If you want to cross the bridge, the Straights State Park is nice and offers spectacular views of the straights, Lake Huron, Mackinac Island and the bridge as well. Very nice park on the water that feels like it is miles from town but is actually in St. Ignace.
I cannot comment on other parks in the area as I have only camped there once and only at this park. Regardless, the island is a lot of fun and taking a drive about 15 minutes west on US-2 gets you to some of the nicest sand beaches in the country.
