Mammoth Cave NP campground

Nice sites, lots of trees. Unusually nice bathrooms in the campground (air conditioned). Some sites are better than others, but that's true everywhere. Most are large and flat and there are many loop-style pull-throughs.

The showers are operated by the concessionaire that runs the nicely-stocked camp store. Don't take your wallet to the shower - mine got stolen. (Police caught the thief who had also taken other things - a troubled youth whose temporary placement family had taken camping ...)

Otherwise no problems and no complaints. It's a great place to go in really hot (or cold) weather - the air flowing out of the cave entrances is always 55 degrees.

Nolin lake state park is very nice but tends to fill up quick and sometimes hard to get a reservation. A very nice campground no one mentioned is " Wax " it is a very nice COE campground. definitely worth checking out.

We liked Nolin Lake State Park. Small campground but not far away from Mammoth Cave when you use the free ferry across the river. Pack your groceries because the stores aren't close and its a dry county if you want some adult beverages.

2nd Dog Creek COE. Also another maybe even closer would be Nolin Lake State Park with water and electric. Both have concrete pads to park on and both are on the lake. Going to MCNP from either one will take you across Green River Ferry. If you use the Ferry ask about their hours of operation.

Check out Dog Creek COE Campground in Cub Run, KY. It is on the backside of the park about 15 minutes away. The bonus is you get to take the free Green River ferry in the park.

We liked the campgound - electric and water hookups on or near a lake. Nice restrooms and showers. We have camped at both the national park and this campground and greatly prefer the COE campground.

There are several other state and COE campgrounds close by.

Take all the groceries and supplies you need since it is a ways to a supermarket.

We stayed at the Yogi Bear right near there. Overall wasn't too bad the kids enjoyed it. The layout was not to my liking only because this was our first trip with the trailer.

A few years ago, we stayed there. Nice sites. Lots of trees in our loop. Saw turkeys and deer cross the campground road.

We stayed at the park cg years ago. As mentioned above it is a typical NPS CG with spacious sites. Quite nice.

Just in case, there are some excellent COE campgrounds within driving distance. They are not commercial.
