For those Canadian Maritimers that head south in Dec/Jan, where do you over night the first couple nights? Do you stay in motels or hunker down in the RV somewhere?

Leaving from Montreal, we've done both hotels & campgrounds. It much depends on the weather and where we are when we want to stop.

We are Canadians (obviously) from the Canadian Maritime provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Come on over for a visit sometime. You won't regret it.

You forgot Newfoundland there bye,

Canada's most friendly and gracious provinces!!

Nope didn't forget it. Newfoundland is not part of the Maritime provinces, it is part of the Atlantic provinces.

Hey, your from Ontario, you should know that!!:)

I guess I stand corrected,,good for you!

A question for those who stay in hotels on their snowbird trip south.

Have you ever had thefts/break-ins from your RV while staying at a hotel?

I'm hesitant to stay in a hotel and leave our rig unattended out in a hotel parking lot overnight.

Three years for two nights each trip .... no trouble so far. Camp on!

Roddie, Glad your arm is coming along, it is important to be able to use both hands when consuming Alpine. Keep in touch and maybe be will hook up when you get down there. Are Mike and Alison going down at the same time?

We aren't leaving til March, and we have no idea where we're staying. Think we'll just hop around for two months along the gulf coast.

The arm is coming slowly, but at least I can hold a drink in it now, so all is good.

When are you leaving Roddie, and where are you going/staying?

Is your arm healed up enough to drive that big rig of yours now?

Have a great trip Roddie. Maybe send me a PM when you get back and let me know how the trip down and back was.

Hey Ianerd, you just have to come on up and after you've been here, you'll just understand. Then you'll get what we mean about being a Maritimer.

Spud1957 from home but now living away. We are doing our virgin trip south this winter ourselves in a 5th wheel. Leaving from Halifax, so I'm glad you asked this question. Not sure how far down we'll get the first couple of nights, so I too would like to hear some suggestions.

lanert, Just roll with it, it sort of adds an amount of mystic to the East Coast "Maritime" Provinces. Enjoy your trip there and I hope the OP has a safe and Ice Free trip to the Waiting Room.

I suspect we have been called maritime provinces early on in the creation of Canada and the term stuck. Newfoundland didn't join Canada until 1949 so when you add them in, they refer to all four as the Atlantic Provinces.

Just a guess but there always has been a distinction between the two terms.

Ok, many thanks. However, I'm still confused. "Maritime" is defined as: "connected with the sea, especially in relation to seafaring commercial or military activity."....or"living or found in or near the sea.".....or "bordering on the sea."

So, why just a few Provinces that are connect to the sea and not all of them...including west coast Provinces?

Sorry, I'm not trying to be obstinate here...just trying to understand.

We are planning a trip to the east coast of Canada and will probably do so either this coming summer or the next.

In Lewiston, Maine, just off the highway, there is a Ramada hotel. They have about 20 30 amp park sites in the back of the hotel for 10.00 per night. As well they give you a two for one buffet breakfast voucher. It's a great spot and at least you have power for heat.
Thanks very much for this. ๐Ÿ™‚
