drsteve, and for the thread OP,
Yes, and there's nearly always a cool breeze coming onshore from over the huge deep and wide lake water as the prevailing winds are from the SW, W, and NW. Therefore, no A/C is needed in summer as it gives us free natural air conditioning. Just open the RV windows or home windows and enjoy or hit the beaches or jump in the boat! Makes for wonderful and very comfortable fishing too.
We've lived here on the lakeshore for over 75 years now and both born here and sure do know. Will never move away as it's such a wondeful place to live! Ultra clean with NO slums or rundown areas and under 3% unemployment. So much to do!
Haven't turned on our A/C in our home or any of the RV's here in over 10 years now and that was just to see if it was still working. Have no idea if it still works now either and don't care. Something someone from Cincinatti would really enjoy being naturally cooled in sumer whether inside or outside. Average daily temps for approx 4 months in summer is 78-80 daytime high and 60-62 at night for the low. Hotter 30 miles inland daytime highs and cooler at night in summer and winter too but not nearly as cold as the Wisconside as niether gets much lake effect.
Cool springs because the lake is cold from winter, extremely pleasant summers, warm falls even to and beyond Thanksgiving and the huge deep lake is warm and heat rises and the wind blows it over us. The heat lasts until late January as the shipping season on the Great Lakes does't close until then and reopens again in very early April.
Torture here but someone has to endure it and we suffer so the people in other areas/regions don't have to. It's the least we can do for our fellow mankind!
BTW, there's a gorgeous new large campground resort (East Pointe RV Resort) on the east side of Grand Haven right on the approx. mile wide Grand River. Pricey compared to state parks etc but it sure has a lot of large RV's/motorhomes in it constantly. Has everything an RV'er could want included right at your site and very manicured grounds/landscape too. Large long paved flat pads and very secure. Plus a large pool and so much more. A few minutes max to the sprawling Lake Michigan Beaches or the very clean fancy pristine downtown and waterfront and the over a mile long extremely popular wide boardwalk. Short bike ride or drive or take the public Harbor Transit right from your CG. Lots of stuff and entertainment goes on every day and night. Just google it: visitgrandhaven.com
and/or the
East Pointe RV Resort
or both.
We don't have to get a CG site around here because we live here!
