Does anyone have any experience driving from Montgomery, Al. to Tifton, Ga by way of 82 highway. We are leaving Saturday from Kansas to go to south central Florida. I'd like to know road condition, divide highway, wide rv friendly road and does it go thru lots of small towns with slow downs. Any input would be appreciated.

We took 82 and it was fine. One town had a rough couple of blocks in their downtown area. The highlight of the cut across was Eufalla. There is a section of town that has a beautiful boulevard with unbelievable ante bellum homes.

So are you saying US 82 from Brunswick, GA (where it starts) to Waycross is no good? ๐Ÿ™‚

Approximately half way between Tuscaloosa and Montgomery on Hwy 82 at Maplesville is a rest area that has a dump station.

Thanks guys, Makes me feel more comfortable taking it. At least now I can warrant avoiding Atlanta traffic.

I drove from Montgomery to the Tifton area a month ago with my 5th wheel. The road is good and not that much traffic. You shouldn't have any problems along this way.

82 (a/k/a GA 520) is a fantastic road from Dawson to Tifton. 4 lane all the way from Columbus. A few small towns and speed changes along the way. We run it regularly from Columbus to Tifton (just did last week) with a toad behind the moho. More stop and go on the section from Albany to Tifton but it goes fast.

I think I'd prefer running over to US 280 in Columbus on US 80 or I-85 from Montgomery to Columbus then down the 520. I think your total route would be more 2 lane than the 520 but regardless your proposed route should be no problem as a good bit of it is rural.
