- tsetsafExplorer IIISomeone already mentioned it but you may want to move in between destinations. It is a bit of a drive between the two. For the blackhills your best source of information is Black Hills
- 2010LibertyExplorerwe stayed at Wolf camp last summer outside of Keystone.
- padredwNomadCuster's Gulch is at Custer, SD--just a few miles east, toward the State Park. I would add my recommendation. We stayed there for a week a few years ago.
- Boxer_LoversExplorerX3 on Custer Gulch. Want to get back up there again.
- Luke_PorterExplorerCuster is on the south end. Hill City is more centrally located in the southern Hills. Rafter J, near Hill City is the nicest campground in all of the Hills.
If you have a lot of time, stay in the northern Spearfish/Deadwood area a couple of days, then move down to Rafter J. - dodge_guyExplorer IIHill City is the central location. We really liked Horse Thief Campground. This is the private one, not the national forest campground. I also think that Beaver Lake Campground in Custer is nice.
- Luke_PorterExplorerCuster is a long way from the Badlands. You will want to stop at Badlands and then move over the Black Hills.
- ksbowmanExplorer IIx2 on Custers Gulch.
- NCWriterExplorerGame Lodge campgroud, Custer State Park.
If you like to state inside National Parks, Badlands has a modest campgrounds with nice views of the rock formations. Some sites have electricity. Now takes reservations (formerly first come first served.) - imgoin4itExplorerWe like Custers Gulch RV park in Custer.
