Myre-Big Island State Park, MN

Want to stop over at Myre-Big Island State Park, MN on our way to Itasca State Park. We are from out of state and want to get a yearly State Park entry permit. Since Myre-Big Island State Park would be our first stop in Minnesota, would this park be able to issue one to us? Even though their web site says "any" state park, this park seems to have limited facilities.
Thanks for any & all help.

This would be our second stop on Aug. 28 for one night only and then northward to a FamCamp at Deparcq Woods, Ft. Riley. Then on to Bemidji Lake for 3 nights. Forgot it was Labor Day weekend and wanted to stay to Itasca SP, but acted too late it was full. So we'll stay at Bemidji, tour Itasca and else where before moving on to Cascade River SP and on to a Phoenix Cruiser Rally outside of Duluth. Then work our way home to St. Louis.
More than open to any hints, suggestions or recommendations for eateries, sights, history or whatever!

thanks

Maybe you have already seen this, but here is a link to some information about military/veteran benefits:

MN DNR

There is a phone number at the bottom to call for more information. What's not clear to me is if you have to be a Minnesota resident or not.

You should be able to call the state park itself any day of the week this time of year. Myre-Big Island info says their park office is open until 9:00 p.m. tonight (Saturday).

Be sure to make reservations for your park stays ahead of time. Our Minnesota State Parks are very popular and weekends, in particular, can be very hard to get at a lot of the parks. If you haven't already, you will want to look especially at what's available for Labor Day weekend as soon as possible. What other parks do you plan to visit?

We are planning to be at Myre over Labor Day weekend. ๐Ÿ™‚

Addy, we plan on hitting Minnesota the 28 of August and spending about two weeks in and around mid-state. I was really interested in the yearly pass, as a disabled veteran I was told I can receive a yearly pass for nothing. I could find no facilities online for such provisions. I was just hoping Myre-Big would have an office where I could talk to someone and show my credentials, as that would be the first MN park we plan to stop.
I guess I wait until Monday this week and try to call the park or someone for some advice.

thanks for the info.

Yes, you will be able to get a permit there. There is a park office building. You can check their website for hours. When is your trip? You can also purchase one online ahead of time and it will be mailed to you.

If nothing else, there is always a self-service station at each park as well, if the office is closed during your time there. You wouldn't get the actual sticker at that time, but a "proof of purchase" and then the sticker would be mailed to you.
