Myrtle Beach state park review

Question

For what it's worth I thought I would share wife and I spent this past weekend at myrtle beach state park.   Great for us it's only 3 hour drive from our North Carolina home.   Arrived Friday about 4:30pm.    Smooth check in.    Lots of larger sites for bigger rigs.  Our TT is 33 foot long.   Total length with truck 55 feet.  I reserved a 60 foot pull thru.  Level site and we fit so left truck hooked up whole weekend.    Water and electric site.  There are some full hookups and are expanding sites with more full hookups to come.  5 minute walk to beach, couple nice walking trails.   1 mile long undeveloped beach area.  Fishing pier on site.    Overall very happy and will camp there again.  Airport close by but not really that many jets landing and taking offf.   Lots of shade trees.

We’ve been there several times and very much like it. We have reservation for next month for a week. We also like Huntington Beach SP ( there now ) which is down the road a bit. Campsites closer to beach but not ON the beach. Currently not many FHU ( 30 amp ) but will open old/rebuilt south campground in a few months that will add 41 FHU ( 50,30 amp) sites. Not as shaded as existing CG but will still be very nice.

Never stayed there but have stayed at Huntington beach and really enjoyed it.

We too have stayed there and enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't like was the sign on the washroom wall advising about snakes. I don't do well with snakes and I was nervous the entire time we were there (needlessly I might add).

I think the state parks suffered damage from hurricanes in the last year or two. Sometimes that can be good as they rebuild and improve old facilities.

Wish we were there now instead of preparing for another cold week with some snow flurries predicted.

You don't know what sleeping next to an airport is like until you've experienced two F16s or a couple of A10 Thunderbolts lifting off at dawn over the ocean (and over the MBSP campground). First time I stayed there was back in the '70s when they were the regular neighbors to the state park. I have to admit, the sight of seeing them fly over made you almost forget about the noise (except at first light).
I would stay at either SP mentioned in this thread. No question.

Living down in the south we have to deal with snakes.    We have a 9lb mini Doxie that loves to hunt and kill snakes and moles, squirrels , and rabbits
