NASCAR Bristol August 2015

Heading to Bristol in August 2015 for Nascar. I'm looking for advise on a good RV park location near the track. It looks like there are plenty of different options around the track.
I'm looking for full hook ups, or at least power and water, for three Coach's.

Any help would be appreciated.

We stay at Raceday directly across street from track......easy walk to seats.
  • Regardless on what campground you decide on make Reservations soon as they will be full as race day nears. Our son went to ETSU for college a few years ago & the students come back the same weekend as the race & the closest campgound with openings was over an hour from the track and south of Johnson City.

Interestingly Bristol has expanded their seat capacity significantly over the years. But as with all other tracks, ticket sales have plummetted over the last few years due to the economy. Bristol was one of the most highly sought ticket on the circuit. I wonder whether the demand for camping sites has also waned.
Nascar was/is the sport of the white middle class american. I live down the street from Bristol and find it interesting too how often now we still see "tickets available" ads on the TV. It is still a show of how the economy has really never recovered. Almost all of our ATV sales places have also closed around here, another indication of what is really happening to the middle class who loved to spend money on big TV's, RV's, Nascar, ATV's, etc.

  • We were at Bristol this past August. We stayed at Start Your Engine Campground. Full hookups $450 for the week. It was all gravel so no worries about mud when it rains. Also noticed that Bristol does a nice job of providing transportaion to many of the campgrounds. Had a great time!!!!!!
  • We have been camping at Bristol for the last 12 years in All American Campground (private) just outside Turn 3. Site is $550.00 for the week and includes water and 30 amp service.

I have a 50 amp rig and they have upgraded to add 50 amp sites but we have a group of 3 rigs that have been together all these years and we did not want to get split up for the 50 amp site.

Nice campground right at the track with long, wide sites for any size rig.

Let me know if you have any questions.

  • There is a church near the track that opens up for the race weekends. ITS donation and they use the money for their youth program. Some are full hookups others are not. Shuttle you to track on race days. We stayed there for $100 for the weekend nd then ate in the gym. They fix breakfast and supper race days. I cant find it now but I can post the name and number if interested. Greek run Restaurant right next door with good food(steak). We walked one day to the track and its a hike but worth it. We walked back after the day race to get out before the crowds left.

  • If you can get into the campgrounds run by the track that would be your best bet. We went twice a year for about 15 years and always stayed in the campgrounds run by the track. Dry camping at first, but full hook-ups by the end. The last few years we stayed in the area above and backing up to the dragstrip.

As you said there are lots of options, ones within walking distance are the best bet.
