Good Civil War sites south of the city if you like history. Great houses, etc. Ryman Auditorium is a must. bars downtown are tooooooo loud for my taste. We kept walking until we found a restaurant without a band.

Don't drive into the city at night -- great shuttle from the campgrounds at a reasonable price. If memory serves, it was about $10 each round-trip; but that was 3-4 years back. Your campground will know of it.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We did the Hall of Fame, Tootsie's and walked around Opryland Hotel. The Trolley tour was very good.

Nashville is a fun place to visit. We stayed at Seven Points Recreation Area (COE I think), about 20 miles from downtown.

Traffic is heavy.

Park in the shopping center and walk over.

There is free parking at the football stadium across the river from downtown and a pedestrian bridge that puts you one block south of Broadway.

We did enjoy the self-guided tour of the Ryman. Wasn't a "cheap" option, but I thought it was worth it.

If you like music, take a walk down Broadway, music of all genres, all day and all night.

The Lane Auto Motor Museum has a very nice collection of early to modern cars.

There's a $10 parking charge in the lot across the street from it, and the inside is NOT what you think it is, unless you're heavily into souvenir shops. My recommendation is to avoid it.
