need help picking a campground in Acadia NP

Another consideration, particularly if you can't get reservations in the park. While Lamoine State Park is not in Acadia National Park, it is close enough for driving to most of the park areas. Dry camping, bathrooms with showers. One interesting "feature" you can order steamed or raw lobsters delivered to your site!

Thanks for all the replies. It gives me some things to consider.

Gotta watch your slides at Blackwoods. I had to park my camper so that my one slide would go between two trees with about 6in on each side. With that said I did like it there. It's a short walk to the ocean, and a short drive to Bar Harbor.... and if you care there is zero cell phone reception there.

A few years back, we had a great site at Seawall that would meet the requirements. Unfortunately, I can't remember the number but, on check-in, I expressed similar desires and the staff member handling the process switched us to a tent site. Our fiver is only 19' but there was plenty of room for a much larger unit. Maybe you could call and speak to someone familiar with the campgrounds.

I've heard good things about the new campground at Schoodic Woods but have no first hand experience since it opened after our visit. That area was our favorite section of the Park so we'd likely give it a try if/when we return.

If you are camping in season I believe the park operates a shuttle which would include Blackwoods and Seawall campgrounds. Blackwoods is closer to the "action" while Seawall is more remote and less busy. We have camped at both and like them both.

We stayed at Blackwoods. Watch your routing to get there. Some low clearances if on wrong road. Not far fro Bar Harbor, five miles or so. Walking distance to coast.
