Need more Adult RV Parks

Nothing against children, but adults that need to be around other adults without children or grand children is a welcome site. We have our own group of adults and it is enjoyable just to be around other adults without children around. My wife and myself don't have children and are used to this life style in our motorhome. Please don't think we don't like children but we like our adult privacy also.

Why is it that any time someone expresses a desire to hang out without kids or dogs, 80% of the responding posts are people telling them that they're wrong for daring to have that opinion? I just don't understand. Personally, I agree with the OP. When I'm on vacation, I don't want to have to modify my behavior to set a good example for other peoples' children. I'd like to hang out with other adults and act like an adult without worrying that I'm corrupting the next generation. There are plenty of "Family-Oriented" CGs around, and plenty of "55 & Up", but I would love to see a few that are in between.

Oh, and if Disney World / Fort Wilderness ever has a "No Kids Week", I'll be the first in line.
You're just reading the opinions of others on a public forum. What you seem to be finding is that others have an opinion on this matter as well.
Those responding simply disagree. Does not mean you are not entitled to you own opinion, just shows not everyone feels the same way you do.
I would imagine if there was a bigger demand for adult only parks you would see more of them, however this thread reflects that the demand may not be as great as you may have anticipated.
I understand that others have differing opinions, and I'm all for the lively discourse that this forum provides; but there's a difference between "I disagree" and "You're wrong". One is a difference of opinion and the other is a judgement.

This particular thread has been remarkably civil (otherwise I would not still be following it), but I have seen others turn into ugliness pretty quickly when one member pokes his head up with an opinion and a pack of wolves immediately descends upon him and chews the OP to bits.

You know how some parks have a "no dog" area, how about a no kids area....or the inverse, how about an "old farts only area."
Everyone has their own idea of fun travel, personally I like meeting new people of all ages. I find restrictions to be just...restricting.
Happy trails
The problem with that is all the permutations you get when you try to have seperate sections. Say you had no dog section, no children and no campfires. Some people would want dog/no kids/fire, someone else no dog/no kid/no. Fire. There are 8 combinations off of those three choices. Impossible to please everyone.

Difference of opinions is what keeps a forum board going. If you are going to start a thread on a contentious subject (just do a simple search to see previous threads), then expect feedback.

Me, I don't care one way or the other what people want in a campground - there are all kinds out there. To start a thread saying there should be MORE of a particular kind, well, this is still America, so you can go build them - if they are economically viable (and if they were, there would probably already be more).

Please understand this. My wife and I are still working. We are not GEEZERS. When we go away we do see a lot of children which is fine but if you say something to them like please don't bother the dogs, they don't listen and they laugh. I was never brought up that way and neither was my wife. I bet a lot of you older folk were not disrespectful to your elders. Do I like children? Yes. When they are disrespectful No.

There are campgrounds, then there are RV parks. Feel free to visit central Florida. Bushnell, Zepherhills, Dade City etc. have dozens of "over 55" parks. Beware of the golden shoes though.................

Methinks some folks need to camp a little further away from their neighbors. I've been camping for over 40 years and I could count on one hand the number of times a fellow camper bothered me, if I could even remember them. I could also count on one hand the number of times I have camped 12 feet from my neighbor. Sooner or later (probably sooner) a close neighbor will annoy you and we will all annoy someone else, just ask your spouse. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Give yourself a little elbow room and the neighbors don't mean much.

If I owned a CG, I don't think I'd limit my potential campers other than one RV and toad or one 5er/TT and TV per site. I'm a single camper and stay in FHU parks all the time. I've never even seen an "Adults Only" CG. Or looked for one. I usually stay at KOAs because I want the FHUs. Many have pools and playgrounds. And families with kids. At check in, I tell them I'm not interested in the pool, so they gladly put me in a spot away from the recreation area. I'm fine with it and some family gets a spot close to kids' activities.
I'd much rather listen to kids having fun (they're RVing's future) than a bunch of drunks singing, each in their own key.
Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

I like dogs but hate the campers that leave them on a leash all night long, one guy had two labs, full grown and all they did was bark. Kids are okay by me. I enjoy the sound of laughter and playing by kids, take me back to a time in my life when things were simple. Isn't that what camping means to a degree, to live a little and enjoy it in your own way? A suggestion for the OP if they are wanting to camp near home, I would say go to a campground on Sunday afternoon or Monday during the school year and be moved out by Friday afternoon when the camping kids will start to arrive. the OP says older adults, I envision retirement age as older and so no conflict with getting time off work.

I don't mind well behaved children at all. We camp two weeks of the year with our son and two of our grandkids. They are well behaved. What I don't like is when after a day cooped up travelling they want to ride the bikes around the loop. In Washington state we were at a park and they were yelled at by a half dozen grumpy geezers. Come on folks how much disturbance does riding a bike make. Have a little patience. By the way I am a 67year young geezer myself.

Thank you well said, X2.

And as a side note:
If EVERYONE followed camp ground rules? Guess what? There would be NO problems or complaints.

Following a couple of rules seems pretty simple enough doesn't it? Follow the rules and EVERYONE is a happy camper.

So fact be it, it is the RV'ers who choose not to follow a few simple CG rules that ruin it for everyone.:(

X2

I have never understood the folks who think rules are for everyone else. :h
Just about every CG/RV Park we have visited gives you a copy as they are usually printed on the backside of the map. Take a minute to read them and if you are not prepared to comply with ALL of them please go somewhere else. You do not get to pick and choose which ones you are going to follow, it is just that simple. :C

There a bunches of adult parks. I honestly try to avoid them.
I think the word you were looking for is "geezers"
I thought you were talking about a chicken(excuse the pun)

No that was right....I don't want a bunch of chickens running around either.... ๐Ÿ™‚
