Need Oregon Help for Big Rig

We are picking up a new 43' Landmark fifth wheel in Eugene, Oregon in mid July and, after a little vacation, towing it to it's permanent home, in an RV park near Palm Springs. I currently tow a 36' Carriage Cameo, and do pretty good maneuvering that around. I am concerned about the ability to fit this 43' trailer in to RV parks on this trip. When I talk to the RV parks, and they say they can take a rig this size, I suspect that what they really mean, is they have a site that is more than 43' long. I worry about tight turns, and getting in and out of the site. With that in mind, I'd appreciate some help finding RV parks that will work for us on this trip.

1. We need a site for July 8th and 9th (Saturday and Sunday) near Eugene. Armitage was our first choice, but they are already full. Any other recommendations?

2. I have reservations for 5 nights after that at the Premier RV Resort in Lincoln City, space #73. After looking at Google Earth, I do not think I can get my rig around those tight turns and into that space. I am considering cancelling this reservation and going to Champoeg State Park, since I don't see any better alternatives along the coast near Lincoln City. Any suggestions?

3. From there we are going to Coquille River RV Park for 4 nights, and I don't see any problems fitting in there.

4. Next, one night at Seven Feathers, one night at Durango in Red Bluff, one night at Orange Grove in Bakersfield, and then on to Palm Springs. I don't see problems fitting in any of these places. Am I correct on this?

I would appreciate any help you might offer, on this, my first post after reading this forum for over a decade. Yikes!

What are you hauling your new RV with? Hopefully, with a heavy duty truck for that weight!

This might help:

Actually Champoeg would be out of your way and if your going to be going back and forth to Lincoln city, it'll be a long slog.I have stayed at Deerwood RV park in Goshen,Armitage rv park north of town, but your best bet would be the Premier Resorts at Coburg. I'm thinking that the latter would be your best bet.
I have stayed at the Lincoln City KOA and as KOA's go it's not too bad. There is also Devil's Lake RV Park and Chinook Winds Casino. Don't know about those two, but they seem to look ok.
Check out the RV Park reviews app for your phone cuz it has worked well for me.

The pull throughs at Champoeg will accommodate you fine. Some of the back in sites not so much. I've never been able to get a FHU site there so can't say. A mile off the freeway on the way to Champooeg there are some free scales that I always use to check my weights. Might be good to know with a new rig. Congrats on the new trailer.

Thanks for all the great responses so far.

RVcrazy....Why not the annex at Newport? I have checked online availability at the new section of the park, and they have nothing available. They can take us in the annex though.

Forgot to mention the Premier in Eugene, a far better choice for your rig than LC. Lewis & Clark RV & Golf in Astoria has a few deluxe back ins that are easy to park in with a nice view out the back.

Seven feathers is great! Nice pull throughs & beautiful! Premier in LC has some longer spots on the top row. Most of the sites down lower are tight... We only use the top row sites. Devil's Lake RV Resort has 70' pull throughs, but they are skinny. If staying there, be sure you are not near the fence of the pet area! We saw someone take out the fence when parking, narrowly missing the park's electrical transformer inside the dog run. The Newport Marina could work, but not the Annex. Phoenix RV in Salem might also work. Good luck with your new rig!

Good luck with your new trailer. Contrary to what most people think and I am sure you know this already having a 36 footer is that in most ways the longer the trailer the easier it pulls.

Anyway my take on the RV park problem is that any place that can take a 40 foot motorhome will likely be ok for you. Since you have two pivot points your turning radius is actually less than that MH.

My guess is that you probably have a very long rear overhang and as you undoubtedly know this can get a person in trouble if not watched carefully as you turn...

Have a good trip.

Try the campground south of Lincoln City in Newport - it is a government park run by the port authority

They have huge sites - it would be shame to miss the coast
