Shenandoah Valley Campground in Mount Jackson VA. From I-81N take Exit 269 (Shenandoah Caverns/Mt. Jackson). Left at stop sign. 1st Right onto Caverns Road. 1st Right (at RR Xing Sign) onto Industrial Park Road.
Looks like a great new campground. It's 600 miles from Rye though so it would be a long day, but it may be worth it. We'll see what time we get off in the a.m.
We spent this past weekend there, mountain biking at Bryce Resort's Bike Park. Don't hurt yourself getting to SVCG. It's directly on Route 81 and the truck noise was most annoying. If your GKs ride mountain bikes, do stay there and take them to the Bike Park (they rent bikes, too). You will be a hero. We had an unbelievably fantastic time at Bryce, and the campground is new and clean, but its proximity to the road will make me think twice about staying there again. I may or may not. We were in a spot closest to the road (site B1), so maybe it's better at the other end of the CG (by the pool). If it's a close-to-the-Highway, over-nighter with amenities and pull-thru you're looking for, it'll probably suit you, if you can handle the road noise. I thought I wouldn't mind, but it turns out I find it difficult to ignore. The roof air helps, and you'll need AC because all the trees are too small to offer a lick of shade, but the trucks sure seemed loud at 7:00 on a Sunday morning and didn't provide the best soundtrack for gazing at a moon-lit night, either.
The staff is friendly. wifi worked our first night, but apparently, a storm knocked out their router our second night, resulting in a campground-wide outage. The small-ish pool was very clean and there is a playground for about 3-10 year olds. They have horseshoes and cornhole boards. Shenandoah Caverns (iirc) is right around the corner from the CG.
I wish I had an alternative to offer. Have a safe and memorable trip.

Check out Twin Grove Resort & CG near Pine Grove, PA. Immaculately clean, lots of sites large enough for your rig. Two pools - one with a waterside, game room, ice cream bar and a mini-amusement park. This would be a perfect place if you want to break up your trip with a day off the road. Also restaurant on the premises, and the food is excellent. If you go you can get off at the Rt. 443 interchange and head west to the CG; on leaving continue west on 443 then hook up with Rt. 72 heading south which will get you back on I-81. Nice drive. Enjoy & safe travels.

Roadpilot - we use the Flying J/Pilot in Carlisle, near Harrisburg, PA as our stop. It is a bit over 400 miles from Laconia to there. Exit 52, IIRC, from I-81. Just north of the I-81/I-76 jct. ST

If you have a smart phone, this app is wonderful. I think it is also free, now. It cost when I got it, but it was worth the price.
