Need suggestions for Oakland/Berkeley Labor Day weekend

No, I'm not crazy! My daughter just had a baby and she wants us to come up that long weekend. Her house is small and no driveway for a car or MH. We have to take our dog, so hotels are out. I have been looking for years for a close campground. Anthony Chabot CG is about 20 miles away but it is full. Any safe Walmarts or Camping Worlds that allow over night parking? Other suggestions?

That's a no-go, the homeless issue has caused Berkeley and the surrounding cities to issue no-overnight camping anywhere ordinances. That also includes the Wal-Marts and other parking lots.
  • Try calling the Berkley Marina harbormaster to see if they allow overnighting.
  • There is also a place on Palmetto Ave. in Pacifica...I have never been but I know it's there...would have to drive thru SF and cross the Bay Bridge.
  • Two hands, we're desperate. Just a safe place to spend the 2 nights and not have to drive all the way to Kit Fox RV in Patterson.
  • We stayed at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds a couple months ago. It might be good enough if you are desperate for a place to stay. It is pretty bad and we would not stay there again.
  • Thanks Othertonka, that is much better than having to drive all the way to KitFox RV in Patterson. It's only 30 minutes from our daughter and family. Looks like they have openings too. Thanks again.
