North Padre Island - Labor Day Weekend

We have just made our permanent move (job relocation) to Texas. It's almost a second home because we have kids and family in Ft. Worth, Austin and San Antonio. Would love to hit the beach over the Labor Day weekend. Will it be a mob scene? Any recommendations for once we're there? I have no intention of pushing my luck in the soft stuff so we're going to have to stay somewhere fairly close to the North End since that has the best hard pack...I think.

    Quite possible, it is the first three day weekend after school starts. Some have already started and the rest start Monday 27th. Port Aransas has several RV parks. Most are back operational after Harvey hit a year ago. I'll be going down a week later (7 Sep).
