North Washington State Coast

Last year, we stayed at Salt Creek County Park, west of Anacortes, WA. Very nice! There are great views of San Juan, Canada, and it's right at the cliffs on the water. Oh, yeah--you can get Canadian TV stations which are different then any we've seen.
Reservations probably required!!!!!!!!!

We have finally made all of our reservations. So, as promised, here is our itinerary. We start off at Greyland Beach SP, move to Washington City Park in Anacortes, then to Birch Bay SP, Rasher SP, and end up at Camano Island SP. Arriving Greyland SP July 11, departing Camano Island SP August 5th so we average about 5 days per park. Gives us lots of time to explore.

We have planned day trips to Deception Pass, Whidbey Island, and a ferry trip to the San Juan's. Anything else you recommend near these campgrounds or along this route - restaurants, attractions, etc. We hike, bike ride, and will do day trips up to 50 miles or so one way.

I live about a mile from the Birch Bay SP and never see a crowd in there

As Scott mentioned, these parks are booked up well in advance. We live a few miles from Birch Bay and although not particularly big rig friendly we have never been able to stay there. Same with Bay View...we were able to get a site at Bay View three or four years ago but never again. Our lifestyle does not allow us to reserve 12 months in advance which it seems you must do with these parks. We will often stay at private parks like Pioneer Trails or Fidalgo Bay in Anacortes. Both are just a few minutes from Deception Pass, San Juan Ferries, LaConner and other sites.

Deception Pass St Park, it's at the intersection of Cornet Bay Rd, and the park entrance east side of High Way 20.

IT's called " North Whidbey RV park" Full hookups and cheaper than the park.
Cornet Bay has the north end marina, and charter boats, plus the sight see excursion boats.

you must live between Sacto and Redding, Central Valley!

Rasar is an out of the way park, along the Skagit River.
it's close to Baker Lake.
it's very nice but not sure it's worth the drive unless you plan to go over the North Cascades Highway.
the DW grew up in the area and most of her family lived around there.

Rasar SP was mentioned, it is inland on route 20. We are making the trip to get out of the heat here in July, does it get warm that far inland?

Tom/Barb - the private campground you mentioned is south of which park?

I was also wondering about Washington Park in Anacortes. Anyone been there?

Remember there is a private owned camp ground just south of the park. no state stamp required.

Also Camano Island SP and as mentioned Ft. Casey SP. Our favorite is Ft. Ebey SP mainly because of the dramatic views of Strait of Juan de Fuca from the bluff trail. Deception Pass SP is the busiest in the state. For July get going on reservations for all these places now, but for most of these SP's except for Deception Pass and Ft. Casey, you might luck out in midweek with just driving in and finding a site for a couple of days at a time. Another excellent campground park is Kayak Pt. County Park on Pt.
