- armadillo_17ExplorerWife's daughter lives in Ocala....so Silver springs park is perfect for us.
4-5 times in last 5 years. - LindaDExplorerSilver Springs was very nice several years ago when we visited, huge sites, quiet park. We took a drive to Juniper Springs and took a hike on their nature trail and enjoyed the springs there. They had a campground there as well and if I remember correctly it was small and was dry camping.

X10! This is an awesome state park - huge sites. If you look it up on Google you can virtually drive through it using street view. They rent canoes within the park, and the river and springs are very nice - you can check out the monkeys along the river. I stayed at site 34 - here is an image of it from street view:
Silver River State park is rite there on the east side of Ocala. Great electric & water sites with wonderful modern bathrooms. The park is expanding to include much of the old, world famous, Silver Springs glass bottom boat attraction.
Click For Full-Size Photo. - RRinNFlaExplorerSalt Springs is quite a ways from I-75, but I agree it is a great campground. Rainbow Springs campground is about 7 miles by road from the springs. Silver Springs (formerly Silver River) is one of the best state park campgrounds in FL. There is a nice exhibit of an early Florida settlement. Like Rainbow, the springs are in a separate location a few miles away from the campground.
Any of the three are a nice choice, but Silver Springs is my favorite. - KlueckExplorerRainbow, Silver and Salt springs are all excellent choices. Plan to stay several days if you can. There are a lot of springs in the area and all different. Check out the Florida State parks website. Enjoy
- HappyKayakersExplorerSalt Springs Recreation Area. Great FHU RV sites and swimming area at the springhead. Poor cell phone reception last time I was there. WiFi was available at the Laundromat just outside the campground. Stay here if you want to swim in the springs.
If you want to do the boat tour, stay at Silver River as suggested by joloote. - bugs53Explorerhttp://www.reserveamerica.com/camping/salt-springs-recreation-area/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=73853
Take a look at this one.
