We stayed on both the waterfront and non-waterfront sites last October and both were nice. We liked the park and it's close proximity to the National park and Cades cove. On the west side there is a scenic drive that gives an outstanding view of the plains to the west as well as towards the NP. There was a local policeman parked next to us when we were in the non-waterfront section. He gave us great info on places to go as well as the office personnel. I asked him why he was there since he lived within a few miles and he said they enjoyed the park and it was an easy get away for his family and visiting friends.
