Outer Banks N.C.

we are planning on a family trip to the OBX this summer. 3 campers and 1 person renting a cabin. because of the need for the cabin we are a bit limited in choices and are seriously looking at Frisco Woods Campground. We have stayed at the KOA and Ocean Waves as well as Camp Hatteras in the past. Frisco looks like the best bang for the buck that fits our needs this trip. Any other ideas??
  • Thanks. We are bringing our kayaks too. As kids we stayed at the Holiday Inn Campground which is now the KOA. I am really looking forward to this trip if we ever dig out from all this snow!
  • Camp Hatteras - we stayed there in Oct. 2009. Heading back in May. We usually head to Myrtle Beach in May but we decided to do the Outer Banks again.

    Taking the kayaks this time.
  • We go to Rodanthe a lot during the summer. Out of all of them we prefer O Waves. However with you needing a cabin then KOA is probably your best choice. My son and brother have both stayed at Frisco and besides the drive to get to the ocean it was not quiet like KOA or O Waves.
  • All the cabins at the Hatteras KOA are new (rebuilt after a hurricane in 2013). We were there (in a motor home) last May and really enjoyed it.
