PA to Fishing Bridge yellowstone. Overnight stops

I'm pulling a 30ft travel trailer and making it a 3 day drive. Probably 12 hours a day or more if I'm feeling good. I'm looking for quick overnight stops. Walmarts or anything you guys have used. I figure I'll be somewhere around Madison Wisconsin the first night. What have you guys used? How was the East entrance to yellowstone?

Fishing Bridge is tight but it's not the end of the world.... In the end you are literally there just enough time to sleep before you go out to explore again. Now if you want to set out your chairs and rug and bbq and hang out then yeah it's probably not the place for you.... Because your truck will be parked 5 feet from your campers steps.

Your profile says you are from NE PA. Not knowing where exactly I assumed maybe somewhere around Meadville. That's 1800 miles to Yellowstone east entrance. We just finished a 3 week 5200 mile trip and averaged 50 mph with fuel stops, toilet breaks and lunch breaks. 1800 miles will take you about 36 hours of steady hard driving. We did one day of 14 hours and had to spend the next day recovering. All other days were 8-10 hours.

I drove through Fishing Bridge park just to check it out and DO NOT recommend it as they pack RV's in there like sardines in a can. Not for me but maybe you won't mind it. We went to Yellowstone, I recommend staying in West Yellowstone. It's right at the west entrance and is a nice small town with everything you need. We stayed at the Buffalo Crossing RV Park. All we needed was within walking distance.

I partly agree, next time we do Yellowstone we will probably do 1/2 time at Fishing bridge and the 1/2 at West Yellowstone. We like the full hookups and we like the location of each campground, on opposite sides of Yellowstone.

I'm on my way back from Yellowstone ... I live in Dayton OH. I left at midnight on a Friday and drove till 3am (4am with time change) to a nice rest stop just over the Indiana/Illinois state line. The next day I drove from there to another rest stop an hour or so past Sioux Falls SD. The next morning we left and made it into Custer State Park where we stayed for 6 days and went to The Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Wind Cave NP, Devils Tower, Wall Drug, Minuteman Missile Silo and about a million other things. If Custer was in any other state it would be a national park no questions asked. From there to Yellowstone was a solid 10hrs taking Rt 16 to the south of the Bighorns through Cody and into the East entrance. The Bighorns were a lot easier than I thought they were going to be. The way everyone around here talks you'd think you were driving to the moon. As long as you have more truck than you do camper you'll be more than fine. Onve past the Bighorns it's an easy drive. Just remember from Cody you are two hours to Fishing Bridge.... Which is where I stayed as well. My route was 70, to 74 in Indy, to 80 in Davenport IA, to 29 near Omaha, to 90 in Sioux Falls to 16 in to Yellowstone. And don't look at the times on google maps for drive times. Once you get on 29 the speed limit is 80 almost all the way to Yellowstone so the times are pretty skewed.

following this myself as we have future plans to head West to Yellowstone from central Ohio.

What are some "Must See" stops between Ohio and Yellowstone? I know one on our list would be Mt Rushmore but I'm sure there are some other major attractions that would be worth while.

jiveturkey, I would love to get a post trip recap on your stops, mishaps, or misc things we should take into consideration and plan for.

While going to Sturgis and Yellowstone, we've stopped at Belvidere East KOA several times , it's right off I-90 easy in/out. They grill up Bison burgers in the evening ( along with other stuff) -- it's about 600 miles to Yellowstone from there--- Devils Tower is on the way if you are so inclined
Other than that, I've used Cracker Barrel's, churches and auto parts stores for quick stops.

Elkhart, IN has the RV Heritage Museum just off of I90. Quiet, nice place to spend the night.

See if the Casino Campers site has any suggestions. I always have good luck at casinos for overnight stops. Plus they also (usually) have 24 hr food available.

Usually rush hour begins at 3pm until 7pm in the big cities.

well, Ohio will charge about 45 I think. Chicago about 125 Is my guess. Can't remember Indiana. Been there 7 times. r u stopping at the Bad Lands or Wall drug?
