Park & Campground Closures

I see several states are closing parks and campgrounds. Has anyone seen any info on U.S. Forrest Service campgrounds? I don't see any notices posted, but park websites aren't very current.

We have our annual trip to Shawnee National Forrest planned for late April.
35 miles from Normal, IL. As close to normal as I'll ever be.

All the campgrounds in Death Valley are closed. Reason being not enough staffing to fulfill the CDC cleaning requirements. Betsy.

Going back to the original question (if we are allowed to do that), Campendium today posted a list of State by State Campground Closures.

I believe you all need to rethink your travel plans, not only for your own good but for the good of others. This is not they year to travel anywhere, especially Interstate travel. Common sense should tell you to stay home and 'backyard camp'.

Why travel restrictions are being imposed, because people exhibit no common sense. People today want to do what makes them 'feel good' and disregard the welfare of others. My point is... Stay home and stay alive.

Lets not over react here. I see no issue in travelling the interstate. Simply use good sense where you travel but do not let it rule your life.

Look at it this way... Social Security and Medicare are the big winners. Old people kiss off from the virus, less money paid out from the funds and they stay solvent longer....win win.

The stock market will eventually come back, however Grandpa will be gone forever.
20% unemployment for an extended period of time could be much worse than people losing a significant sum of money.

So what's the bigger tragedy, Grandpa kicks it prematurely, ahead of his time due to getting the virus from someone carelessly.
Or someone losing a significant some of money?

I hear people say โ€œOh itโ€™s just a fluโ€.

Do we want to add another 15K to God knows how many more deaths per year?

We need time to figure it out and get a vaccine.

30,000 people die every year in the USA alone from.....driving automobiles.

We should ban automobiles, right? If it will save one life it's worth it, right?

As a society we are constantly trying to reduce auto deaths.
Over the years we have enacted mandatory seat belt laws, required air bags, added side curtain air bags and frontal crash zones.
Currently we are experimenting with sensors, cameras and automatic braking.
Did I mention DWI laws,
We put a lot of effort into reducing auto deaths.
When it comes to the Virus we can look to Italy as an example of what can happen if we just wait and do nothing.
Just like automobiles experts expect many to die from the virus,
however just like automobiles we will do as much as we can to keep the deaths to a minimum.

Dying in an auto crash is not contagious. For that we need self-driving cars.

There have been 16,000 people in the US die from flu this 2019-2020 flu season. 280,000 had to go to the hospital.

Flu is not some 'normal' thing that we 'have to live with'.

People just don't think it is serious and take simple, reasonable precautions.

------------------------

No one knows yet if COVID-19 is less or more dangerous than the flu.

Do 16,000 more people have to die before people start taking it serious?

Due to the effectiveness of this 2019-2020 flu season vaccine, 45%, the 16,000 means likely 17-18,000 people did not die because of the vaccine.

By the reasoning that it is just like the flu, is 33,000 deaths in the US, over a half-million people in the hospital - and acceptable number.

Do we need more deaths and hospitalizations than that before sensible precautions is needed?

(Note - Sensible precautions - panic buying and such are not sensible. Closures and such are. We are full-timers. We've already been hit with having to change plans, higher costs and such. We do not have the option of going home and waiting it out.)
