Our park in the RGV is suffering from this same thing. Ours is an ownership park and when people get sick and no longer come down, they just seem to abandon their places here. So we have a lot of empty park models and no chance of them being filled. We don't have a rental pool, although a few are rented by the owners through a resident in the park. Because there aren't people occupying those places for the entire winter, that means fewer people to volunteer to do the things around the park that need to be done.
Our activities are shuffleboard, pool, golf, cards, cards, cards, more cards, and did I mention cards? Also corn hole, horsehoes, pegs and jokers, and an occasional dinner or potluck. Nothing that interests me. The jams are populated by old performers who could never carry a tune, don't know what it is to keep time, etc. Terrible does not even cover it. Tonight we had outside entertainment that was excellent. A song writer/guitar player, another guitar and a standup base player. Only about 25 people showed up. The performance was professional and superb. But it's definitely "newer" type entertainment and not what the old guard is looking for.
They want more people in the park to "participate" i.e., do the work, but they don't want any change at all. They vote down everything anyone tries to do. We find ourselves drifting off to neighboring parks for their activities.
