The road out to the lake has gotten a bit on the rough side & the drought is not helping the lake level. There are nice camping sites but we have an major fire season in force so be careful. No open fires are allowed!

Nice pic. Just open the little 'picture' icon along the top of the "post new topic" (like you did to start this thread...expect paste the picture link into the 'picture icon'.
Then limit the size to around 500 and your are good to go...

Max picture size is 640 on the longest side. I save my pictures to IMGUR, then it's very simple to copy the BB code and paste it right in with the message. There are several ways to post pics here.

I've lived in Tucson for 21 years, and I've never been to Parker Canyon Lake. I'll have to give it a try.

Yes, the road in has some rough spots. Two-lane blacktop has turned to 1 1/2 lane in many spots.

We took a day trip last Sat. and it looked like fires in the campground were OK (at that time) in the fire rings. Nothing on the FS site about restrictions. FS site Parker Lake
We went in dowen HW 83 but came out on going west on Cimarron Rd to the west gate of Fort Huachuca and on through the base to Sierra Vista. A much shorter route. Only had to show our Driver Lic to the camera at the west gate to get onto to base.
I don't think I would like to pull a large trailer over HW 83 anytime soon. Some of it was broken down to one way. Other section had been redone in the last few years and was good. If in Sierra Vista just go throw the base for the short route. The worst of the roads were on HW 83 west of this route. The campground was nice with new toilets etc.

Knew it was just a matter of time since we are so dry. This was in today's Tucson Newspaper,



"TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Fire officials have increased fire and smoking restrictions in southern Arizona because of ongoing dry weather.

The stricter restrictions took effect Thursday in all districts of the Coronado National Forest and memorial, Saguaro National Park, Casa Grande Ruins National Monument and several others. Building and maintain a campground are now prohibited in both developed campgrounds and improvised ones. Smoking is also not allowed unless inside a car or building, and firing a gun is prohibited unless a person has a hunting license.

Violating the rules could result in a misdemeanor charge.

Temperatures were in the triple digits all week."

Yep, it's been a tad warm the last few days. ;)

The Huachucas got, essentially, no snow this year. Fires are probably going to be a big problem this summer.
