Parks near Louisville, Kentucky and Bowling Green

Any suggestions for parks near these places? We will be in a fifth wheel and want to tour the Louisville Slugger museum. Any suggestions for other things to do would also be appreciated.
Thank you!!
  • We home base at My Old Kentucky Home State Park. Central to all that area offers. Lexington, loiusville, the Bourbon Trail, etc. Cheap camping!

  • I'm generally a fan of state parks wherever you can get into them. Having said this, the Bowling Green KOA is one of the better KOA's we've found. We stayed there both coming and going to our winter grounds in Tucson.
  • My Old Ky State Park might be a little tight for a fifth wheel. We really like Taylorsville Lake State Park just east of Louisville. There are no bad sites, all have electric & water. Close to Louisville, Bardstown (bourbon tours), Pleasant Hill (Shaker Village), Battle of Perryville (Civil War), Gethsemani Abbey (Trappist)and Lexington
  • We stayed at the KOA in Sheperdsville, and then stayed at Cave Country RV park which is close to Bowling Green but closer to Mammoth Cave.
  • We stay at Grandma's RV Park in Shepherdsville, KY. Nothing fancy and narrow gravel sites but for us, it is easy on/off the interestate and a Walmart and fuel is just one exit away along with loads of restaurants, groceries, etc. There are some long term campers but their sites are well kept because the RV park has strict rules especially concerning water hook ups and freezing weather. They also do not like pets urinating on their greenery. We have not had any issues while staying there but realize it may not suit some.
  • Last time we were ther it was clean and the owners were fine people.
