Yeah, that should keep the southern great unwashed from soiling the elite's domiciles around Carmel.

No, it's quicker for them to drive up 101 anyway.

Perhaps someone with updated information can correct me if I'm wrong, but Hwy. #1 was closed up around Big Sur due to a massive slide. Be sure and find out before you drive that far and have to turn around.

The OP is only going from LA to Morro Bay, way south of the slide closure.

  • Don't forget the Ronald Reagan Museum in Simi Valley. Special exhibit the Titanic is great
  • Ditto on the Solvang area. DW and I run up there on a wine buying trip once every year. We like to stay at Flying Flags in Buellton, and run around with the toad.
  • I just did a Google search for `California highway 1 sights' and got a ton of websites to peruse.
  • Neptune's Net restaurant, north of Malibu.
great place to eat and watch the surfers.

Santa Barbara and Stearn's Wharf and the SB Zoo

Solvang and wine tasting in the Santa Ynez Valley

    Downtown SLO
  • Go a bit further north. Hearst Castle, Paso Robles wine country, Carmel, Monterey Aquarium.
