We are at a very "high end" RV park and very highly rated - well kinda. No sure who does the rating as they do not appear so in RV Park Reviews.Here is my phone call to the office about supper time tonight (as we did not see propane tanks) for filling for customers.Me : Do you sell propane here?Ofc : Yes, we do - big tanks only.Me : Big tanks only? You will not fill my 15# that I use for my grill?Ofc : No, we only do the big ones as we would not know how much to charge for the smaller one.Silence (because I did not really know how to respond).Me : Oh?Ofc : You have to go into xxxxxx (nearest town a ways away) and they will do that.Me : Oh.Ofc : Have a nice evening.End of conversation. I did not ask her what if a "big one" was not completely empty?As many of you know, we have been part time RV'ing for 19 years that we kinda counted up and came to about 4 1/2 years if full timing and this is our 184 different RV park - never heard this before.Just hadda share it. :-)

If I remember correctly Fort Wilderness in Florida has a flat rates for 20, 30, and 40 lb tanks regardless of how full or empty it is. Now it is a drop off and pick up later and that may be why it's that way.

Sounds to me that they just like to be bothered about providing any service that you would need. Just providing the bare essentials... a place to park. Never heard of something like that in the 15 years we have been camping. Good Luck, and Happy Camping !!

It may just be a sign of the quality of people that the schools are turning out. The simplest math is beyond them, buy something for $4.50 give them a five and they have to use a calculator (or the cash register) to do the math. You can tell them the change is 50 cents but they just keep tapping away. Probably think you are trying to cheat them.

Maybe she meant they don't do the little 1# tanks for gas grills and only do the bigger 30# tanks.

We all have the little tanks - those guys have the BIG ones on posts or sitting on the ground - and, I would presume, a completely different set of equipment and all.

In any case, the Manager clarified it but, in my personal opinion, this just one of the things here not handled well or not good or not as advertised.

On the positive side, the site we have here is the largest we have ever had and a really nice view. In fact, it is this site that is the cover picture on their brochure / pamphlet.

So be it - will be otta here Monday. Going to a place we have been to before down the road a piece and we love it.

The larger tanks are usually filled by the gallon using a gauge on the tank.

Smaller cylinders are usually filled by weight, though it is quite often charged by the gallon or even flat price.

I think anything up to 120lbs is a cylinder? Not sure about the 420 lbs are a cylinder or a tank here in PA.

But in any case, you would have a cylinder, not a tank.

Not sure what the RV-tanks would be classified as?

I stayed out of this until Lauren talked to the manager.

So my question is if they have a propane service (truck) that comes around to fill tanks why not do that?

Our Winter home/RVPark in S. AZ uses a propane service via truck that makes the rounds every week. They fill all types/sizes of tanks including small tanks for grills.

This park does not fill and kind of RV tanks it appears. They have many seasonal and other long term people here that have the "big" tanks and are filled by truck. Simple as that.

Why did they just not say that?

I find this very unusual for an RV park this size but it is due to the needs of the majority of the people who pay the bills.

The nearest place for filling is about 20-25 miles away, not the 18 I thought.

I have posted somewhere around 160 posts on RV Park Reviews - nearly all of them very positive because I am very careful picking where we stay.

This place says they are the top rated park in CO but I don't know what rating - not so on RVPR.

This place will not get too good of marks I am afraid. I made a mistake in picking it. My wife and dog agree! :-)

That's not really offering good service to the customer. They could easily estimate what to charge. Maybe the person you talked to had no authority?
