quiet snowbirding in California?

we tried it 4 times.
everywhere there is too much noise in the camps.
as they are all on busy main roads...
in the camp people were forever getting there MHs polished for days on end. or leaving for work at 5am in a noisy diesel truck..

and then there were the parks neighbours...barking dogs, 5 year olds on noisy motorbikes etc
At Santee lakes we even had 'fishermen' playing the truck radio so loud it could be heard a mile away and of course military jets!

We do not like the desert so where on the west coast can we find a few months of peace and quiet?!
5 months stuck in a MH cos it is too noisy to sit out is no fun!
we tried state parks and agree with the reviews that there is no limit on the rowdyness at them.

any ideas anyone?

There are plenty of parks where snowbirds stay the season. Those are the kinds of parks that would have quiet neighbors. They go to sleep at 9pm!

Stay away from parks with water activities (fishing, a site next to the pool, etc.). Stay away from parks that have kiddie playgrounds. We have seen tons of parks that are quiet. You're choosing the wrong ones for some reason. Sometimes you need to get off the main drag, too. Right next to a highway is going to be noisy.

Actually, it isn't a sewer works but an electric power plant. This plant has since been shut down and they are making it into an electricity generating plant using ocean wave technology or something on that order, the last I heard.

Do a google search first before you leap. I just read they closed down several CG's due to lack of water.

how cold does it get at night in december?

We haven't been there in December but the chamber of commerce website say the average daytime temp is around 70 and the average low is in the low 40's. We will be there this December.

Actually, it isn't a sewer works but an electric power plant. This plant has since been shut down and they are making it into an electricity generating plant using ocean wave technology or something on that order, the last I heard.

It's too bad that you eliminated the desert areas as possibilities. We stay in the Borrego Springs area and it's very quiet. The area is what I think is called a "dark sky" area (no light pollution to prevent clear views of the sky at night). We do occasionally have to put up with coyotes howling overnight as they feast on some unfortunate waterfowl near the pond on the 9th hole of the nearby golf course!

It is on RV Park reviews. Think it is listed under Imperial Beach. I don't know where you are getting the Blackhawk flying overhead business. You will see Blackhawks regularly over the bay working exercises but you can't hear them. Don't try to get into the Seal obstacle course. Not a good idea. I'll just leave it at that.

Finally, just 150 yards from the park, the Navy Seals have a training site. Sounds cool, right. I thought so at first. But imagine Black Hawk Helicopters, in pairs, flying just 100 feet above your motor home 24/7, descending 150 yards away. A rope comes out and 4/6 seals drop down. The helicopter lands to pick them up, and flys back over your motor home. Then the next one comes a few minutes later and repeats the process. Over and over, day and night. Bring ear plugs, head phones, and cotton because you'll need all of them. (This doesn't count the Boarder Patrol Blackhawks which also circle in pairs endlessly at about 500 feet high, as the boarder is just a few miles away.)
