Really got hooked with TT

Up until yesterday, I thought I had done my homework when we purchased a resale ( 4-5 yrs ago) of a TT, NACO,(forgot the other one that has a lot on the west coast) It's a platinum alliance 21 days park to park and 150 day advance reservations.
I knew about the ten year requirement but the broker explained that I could sell it with or without the alliance part. So, the ten year hook didn't bother me.
We just bought into a co-op so having TT is not so important to us.
Long story short, I found out that I can not sell it without the alliance part and new owner would have a new 10 year hook!
Are there any TT alliance members out there? Is this true?
Any similar situations out there?
I'm thinking of just "walking away" from this and let them come ater me.................. after we put everything in our adult kids names.

    Don't just contact TT to confirm. READ your contract. My wife and I got into Thousand Trails as a part of some membership she was sure she wanted. We never used it, so after 3-4 years I told them I wanted to drop it. I got the same answer as you -- you can't.

    I read my contract and it stated that I could drop it anytime I wanted to. They insisted it wasn't so. I copied the contract and emailed it to them with parts of it highlighted. After a few days they said they'd spoken with their legal team and I was right.

    Just check it out before you take their word for it. If you don't have your copy, ask them to send you a copy of theirs, the one with your signature on it.

    The story I got was that they'd changed their contracts shortly after we signed up. Who knows?

    I wish you luck getting out of your contract.

    Another in a long list of reasons to remain far away from Thousand Trails membership. I am now in the tenth year of membership and still use it but would never consider purchasing again. Aside from a list of complaints that I won't bother to share I can't imagine why anyone would pay to buy a membership when the facilities are now essentially open to the public through Zone Camping, RPI, etc.

    You are absolutely right. Problem is, supposedly I could sell it if I chose to. Problem is, unbeknownst to me, the ten year requirement starts over with the transfer.
    I'll be contacting TT to confirm that. How can that be?

    I would NEVER agree to any 10 year commitment for ANY commodity. Heck I don't always know what I'll be wanting to do tomorrow :)

    Maybe, I didn't describe my situation clear enough. I probably should have said Thousand Trails membership and not TT.
    The issue is being bound to paying dues for ten years, of which I have 5 or 6 to go. And, not being able to have same benefits to any new parks added to TT, AND, when I sell it the ten years starts over for the new owner.
    Perhaps you are not familiar with this particular specific travesty. There may be other beneficial memberships. certainly not this one.

    Yes, we now have gone in a different direction. Instead of doing TT and encore resorts at reduced rates in the winter - - - we bought a place in florida. So, now the $500+ TT dues isn't worth it. But, I'm stuck for 5-6 more years.
