There is one no gen loop in the National Park side. All the ocean side sites are generator. For those that enjoyed the beach side camping at the national park, they told us this year that these spots will be abandoned beginning next year and new site will be built across the road. It's costing too much to constantly dig out the beach sites. - All_I_could_affExplorerThey do allow generators in Maryland state campground. Not sure about the national section. - suprzExplorerI was just looking and I can't find any outlook on the use of a generator while camping. I was just wondering what hours they allow use in, or if they even allow use at all
- suprzExplorerWell i was able to get a site! No electricity, but it was one of the few left in late Sept. Oceanside Loop 1. Site 008.
- DashonthedashExplorerThere is nothing left at Assateague State Park for late September with electric for more than 1 night. If you can wait until early October, there are sites available. There are plenty of sites available without electricity, and all the sites are close to the beach.
Reservations - suprzExplorerThe visit won't be until late September. Hopefully we can get a spot close to the beach.
- DashonthedashExplorerThere is a 12 month window on Assateague State park reservations, and most of the roughly 3 dozen electric sites go as soon as the window opens, especially between May and September. If you can get one, it is well worth it. Incidentally, anyone 62 or over can get a pass good for half price camping during the week at any Maryland state park, even if you're not a Maryland resident. Lifetime senior passes are only $10.
- michigansandzilExplorerThere are 30 electric sites in the state park. We stayed at one 2 years ago, it was absolutely phenomenal.
If you plan on going in the summer, all of the sites open for booking for the entire month at the same time months in advance. And all of the sites are booked within 2 minutes of opening. I got one. No option of site choice or even the week I wanted, but it still felt like I won the lottery. - jplante4Explorer IITreat the ponies the same as you would bears. They will tear apart your unattended site in search of food.
- RGar974417ExplorerWe stayed in the National Park on the bayside. We had a great site with a tree and direct access to the bay and about 150ft from the dump station and water. We were in a generator loop.I believe it was loop C. Make sure you take advantage of the National park ranger demonstrations and talks.
