RV Campgrounds in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge Area

Motorhome (with toad)seeking creekside campground in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area next May. Quite with some space. Your input is appreciated.
  • I would also recommend Twin Creek...creeks, FHU, quiet, plenty of room (we stayed there in a motorhome with tow)...and I love that the trolley stops here.

www.twincreekrvresort.com will tell you all about the park and area info, including the trolley.
  • We stayed at River Plantation last June while there. A nice campground, but right on the busy strip between Sevierville and Pigeon Forge. Hard to get in and out of the campground. Traffic never stops.
  • We like Tremont Resort in Townsend. Sites are right on the water. It's only about 7 or 8 miles to Cade's Cove from there.
  • Another vote for Pine Mountain! We have stayed at most of the campgrounds, but we keep coming back to PM.

Site # 61 will give you the most room and is back in the back, right on the little creek.

On Edit: If the campground is within the boundaries of Pigeon Forge and/or Gatlinburg, the trolley will stop there. The ones that are out in Wallen, Cosby, Townsend, etc. will not have trolley access.
  • The Jellystone in Cosby TN is very nice. has everything you`re looking for.
  • Twin Creeks is nice and in a good location clods to the park entrance. Some lagre sites. On the trolley routes to Gatlinburg. Close to shopping and restuarnts.
  • Like RoyB, we almost always stay at Elkmont and occasionally Smokemnont. Townsend is the choice if you want full hookups without the crowds. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge may not be bad crowd wise prior to Memorial Day if your going in May. Have stayed at Twin Creeks in Gatlinburg once, very close to town and easy access to park.
  • Pine mountain

Here are some pictures of Pine Mountain that I posted in another topic. I think the sites are large for the area. There is an out door pool on site and and indoor pool, hot tub and lazy river available for use as well.

We always stay inside the Natl Park at ELKMONT CAMP but it doesn't have hookups. Only have water available close by at the bath house.

We like to stay where we can get away from all the hype in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge but close enough to make a couple runs down the streets...

Townsend is the best place for us to go to do this...

We have stayed a couple of time at the campground just before the Townsend entrance to the park that has full hookups and creekside sites.

If we want to stay in the mix of the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge hoop-la we always stay at the River Edge Resort which is located just as you enter Pigeon Forge coming from the Gatlinburg side before you get to the Dollywood road.. It is a very nice campground with full hookups.

  • Twin Mtn Pigeon Forge. Nice creek. Space is not something you will find in this area.
Pine Mtn Pigeon Forge but a very small creek.
