I also agree with tpi. I live in Pasadena, and go to Pismo regularly. It is a 3 hour drive - longer to/from Torrance. For me, the half way point would be Santa Barbara. But there are only two RV parks nearby - one is awful, the other is very expensive (near $100 a night and definitely not worth it).
The drive to/from Pismo to Santa Barbara would not be bad. The drive to Torrance? awful!
I would stay Pismo Coast Village in Pismo, and Golden Shores in Long Beach, if you want RV parks. If you could go with a camp ground, there are more options, esp up at Pismo.
