RV Parks in southern Texas

We are hoping to stay in a RV park in southern Texas for the winter of 2020-2021. Does anyone know of some nice upscale RV parks in that region. Most concern about safety in the area being close to the border but want to get warmer weather. Thanks for your help.

We love Terlingua, TX...and nearby Big Bend National Park. We've been three times. The Park is never crowded and the views are varied and beautiful. We stayed at an RV park...Study Butte RV...across from the rv park is the short road to Terlingua, a really neat little town, part of which is designated a Ghost Town. The Starlight Theater is actually a restaurant with good steaks..and it joins a Trading Post where sometimes there are locals on the front porch, telling "tales" or playing guitars and singing.

From Terlingua to Persidio on the River Road is a scenic (and sometimes breathtaking) drive.

The last time we were there, we went over into Boquillas, a little Mexican village. We felt perfectly safe, as it is just a small village with one dirt road...handmade souvenirs...and a restaurant where you can get freshly made tamales and tacos. We crossed the Rio Grand in rowboats, and were serenaded by a man singing "Cielito Lindo", then we rode donkeys into the village.

We have always enjoyed Benson Palm Village RV Resort near Mission Texas. I would call this one "upscale". There is another with similar name not far away. Be sure to look at this one:

Check out Gulf Waters Luxury RV Resort in Port Aransis TX. It is one of the nicest that we have ever seen. It is definitely safe.

Nearly 400 parks in the Rio Grande Valley, Basic to deluxe. $200 - $900 a month.
Just come without reservations, book a site for a week and visit as many parks as you can and find what you like. We have spent 17 seasons in the Valley within 2 miles of the border. I would say is is much safer than many other parts of the country. Check the crime stats and compare to like size cities in your area. You will be surprised.

Spent a couple weeks here, not much you could want that they don't have. Lots to see & do in the area & far enough from town to be out of the rat race. Golf on site, and all the amenities, doubt you can find anything nicer, top of the line, gated with gate cards.

If you're staying for a while and you have a pet, make sure the park isn't infested with 'goat heads'. Or fire ants.

We've done 1 week stays the last 2 years in March. Very nice and a little pricey. And they really fill up. I tried to reserve a week in advance last year for this year and they were booked solid.

I have friends up north who tell me what horrible danger I'm in being close to the border in CA. In 17 years I've seen nothing at all that concerns me.

AFAIC it's hype and exaggeration.

There are way too many parks in So. Texas and most of them are great parks. To provide you with the best info, narrow your request to a more specific area. Do you want to be near the Gulf, inland, near a lake, big city, shopping etc.???...Uf you just want to browse, our blog has lots of pictures and descriptions. On the right, click on 2013 and look for the area you're interested in......Dennis
