Salisbury State Beach Reservation

Has anyone had any experiences with this Massachusetts State CG on the ocean? Attractions etc.

Thanks
  • Kittery outlets, Kittery Trading post in ME is a short drive. Might be worth a visit. New Hampshire liquor stores off I95..cheapest booze in the North East.

Have a fun & safe trip

  • Thanks for the input. I looked up check in 1 pm. Good to know. Seems fairly safe and fun and being close to NH as well as Gloucester Newbury Port etc, might be options as well.
  • Good value considering axcess to 2 beaches with in walking distance.

As mentioned before dont expect much from the town of Salisbury as there is not much to see but fine if your just staying at the campground

Driving through the Hampton beach area will be a nightmare

  • Hi,

We've been going every year for 10+ years. It's right next to be beach and along side the Merrimack river. Very pretty sunsets. The sites are close together but OK. All sites are 20/30/50A electric now with great voltage. Bath houses are getting replaced, but the old ones are still in service. Clean but old. There is a new 4 lane dump station this year. Usually it's very quiet. Lots of kids. All kinds of campers from high end class A to old junkers. Lots of tents in the upper streets as well. A very eclectic mix of people.

Just in case you don't know, all Mass parks are dry, no alcohol allowed. Also, no firewood from outside either. State police patrol.

Nearby is Newburyport and Hampton Beach. Salisbury Beach Center doesn't have much to offer anymore...

Sites go fast 6 months out.
  • Don't plan on being early...you won't get in until posted check-in time.
  • Reservations if you can get them because they are always crowded. You will be right next to Hampton Beach NH which has all the trappings of a typical beach tourist destination with lots of restaurants, arcades, hotels, and people on the beautiful sandy beach. The water is ICE COLD.
