San Antonio, Texas Campgrounds

I plan on going to San Antonio next June for a trip to the Alamo and other sites. Does anyone have any recommended camp grounds? What else is available to see in the area.
  • We stayed at Traveler's World RV Resort and would again. Located on a main street a short distance south of downtown and easy drive there and parking near the Riverwalk and the Alamo. Or, there is a bus stop right in front of the park to take you downtown.

Alamo, Riverwalk, Mercado or Market Square, mission trail, pretty nice zoo, Sea World, Buckhorn Museum and Texas Ranger Museum, day trips into hill country, ????
  • http://www.stonecreekrvpark.com/ this park is really nice for the price . We spent a week there this June right after the big flood there was no flooding at stone creek, Easy on and off of 35.

Another vote for Travelers World. The bus stop is across the street that takes you downtown and to the riverwalk. No need to drive in traffic.
Good Rv park. we have stayed there 4 times in the last 6 years.
  • One more for Travelers World. If you travel with a dog they did have a lady in the park that supplied a dog walking service.
  • Thanks for the feed back.
Tom/Barb, Yes I am Military eligible, but another group of people traveling with me is not eligible to stay at military facilities.
  • If you do choose Travelers World, do not take E Southcross Dr from I-37. There is a steep up/down railroad crossing that will likely cause a tail drag on a longer rig. Take SE Military Dr if you are coming in on I-37, a little farther south than E Southcross.

  • The first time we went to SA, we stayed at the KOA. The park was very nice inside but the area is ghetto. Don't expect to leave the park and go eat someplace close. It is also farther away from most attractions. We scouted other campgrounds for the next trip. The second trip we stayed on the west side of the city. There were two parks over there close to each other and near Sea World, etc. I cant remember which one we stayed in but I think it was Admirality?? It was very nice and we felt much safer when coming into and leaving the park. It was much closer to everything we wanted to do and a much better selection of restaurants, shopping, etc.
