Sandia Casino is going to charge anyone with a rv to park in their lot from October first to the ninth. Called and talked to three different employees to confirm, which they did. No one knew what the charge will be.
Thanks for the public service bulletin! :)
A lot of folks used the casino lot for parking over the years and were welcomed to do so. I guess they wised up to making some extra money. I agree, that staying on the Fiesta grounds in the south campground is a great place. The balloons sometimes land right next to you; you can easily walk to the main grounds or the free shuttle comes by regularly through the campground. It sure beat fighting traffic getting into the Fiesta. We spent 10 days there while we were crewing a balloon. Awesome experience!
Thanks again, Texas Two Steppers for the heads up. - VeebyesExplorer IIThanks for the info but you might as well pay some money & dry camp at the dry camping area near the festival, which happens to be down wind of the launch most days, & has shuttles to the launch field, or walk, rather than deal with the hassel of camping anywhere away from the field.
- Texas_Two_SteppExplorerIvylog, your comment was unnecessary. This was a public service announcement.
- Sandia_ManExplorer IIYup, I heard the same thing as well. One of the security guards I spoke with at the casino stated $25 was the possible rate. RVers need to check in at hotel desk, security team for the casino has been notified to check and verify all RVs for compliance. Might as well stay at the city run dry camping lot across from Balloon Fiesta park for $35, it includes free transportation to and from the events. Have a great time!!!
- IvylogExplorer IIISo do not park there if you do not like them charging, it is private property.
PS: It's costing me $200 to park for five days, but it is a front row seat.
