I will be traveling from MS Gulf coast to Lakewood CG in Myrtle Beach, via Savannah.

I'm looking for suggestions for an overnight CG in Savannah.

Thanks in advance.

We ended up staying at Red Gate Campground .

Well sort of.

Here is why.

I will say the campground is very nice and affordable. $54 for full hookup, drive thru.

It is well maintained, and very clean.

We had a fire in our camper while setting up. Everyone is OK. The owner of the CG volunteered to refund our money for the night, and we had to go to a hotel.

I will definitely go back to this CG.

This was on our return home, so our trip to Myrtle Beach was great. We are thankful this didn't happen while we were there, especially since we had our dog with us for the first time, and he staying in the camper while we were at the beach.

Thank you all for your input.

Beautiful park near historic Savannah.
Stayed there 2 yrs ago, and it was great.
Lots of trees with Spanish moss, pull-thru sites, full hook-ups with cable.
Great location to explore Savannah, and Tybee Island
Will definitely stay again when in Savannah.

Sounds nice, I'd like to stay there too.,.........

Does the place have a name?

We stayed at the KOA in Richmond Hills - just a short trip to Savannah. Very nice campground beside a large pond with many swans - very beautiful.

We had an excellent overnight experience at the Savannah KOA... easy access from I95, very clean and well maintained. No affiliation.

I second that. I stayed there over a year when relocating and never saw anything that made me nervous.

We've stayed at Ft. McAllister SP as well as Skidaway SP and actually prefer Ft. McAllister since it's relatively close to I-95. Even though Ft. McAllister is in Richmond Hill, GA, which is south of Savannah, it certainly is an easy drive into downtown Savannah, actually easier than from Skidaway, IMHO.

I wanna ask a specific question for those that mentioned Hardeville. Is is somewhere that a single female would be comfortable in TT? for an overnight? I am not scary, but just don't want to go anywhere too much like city. I usually camp in state parks or COE

We stayed at Skidaway back in April. Great campground in a great area and just a short drive to Savannah. Already planning a trip back next year b/c we only spent one day looking around the city (tons to see).

Spent one day checking out Tybee Island and Fort Pulaski which my kids loved. UGA Aquarium and Skidaway Institute of Oceanography are only a few minutes away from the campground. Wish we were there longer.

Only bad part at that time of year was the gnats. I guess people up there are used to them but they were bad even in the city.

I believe it would be an okay place to stay by yourself.
