If you enjoyed Charleston, you will love Savannah just as much. Skidaway SP is a great place to stay and my choice when in the area. Don't let those talking about bugs keep you away, it will be the same experience as Charleston.
If you like historical sites, there are also a couple nice state parks a little further south of Savannah and could be done as a day visit.
