Silver City NM

Our trip around the southwest is quickly approaching, we plan to leave in November and let the weather and our whims dictate our moves. BUT circled on the map is Silver City and we would like to spend a week, probably more in Silver City, NM. (Probably next Spring before we get there) Sure would like ideas about things to do and places to stay and mostly restaurants to check out.
Thanks in advance.
  • BWAHAHA! Lota Burger! Mi Casita, Red Barn Steakhouse, Taco Bell, Billys BBQ,La Familia. and a couple places downtown, Tre Rosat, that mainly serve the upper crust but it doesnt have much. It ain't that big and has no RR tracks, 1 commercial flight a day and the Road Runner RV park. BTW, Lota Burger serves a Burger topped with Green Chile and it is GOOD! Try one. I knew Mr Blake and he was the nicest guy, he'd cook extra fries and give them to us when they closed as teenagers. If you ahve a Toad, go North on 180 toward Alma. Baldy is over 10K and beautiful.
  • If you have a toad be sure to check out the Gila Cliff Dwellings. Take NM 15 out of town. It actually goes out of Pinos Altos on the East side of SC. Figure best part of a day. Take a lunch and have a picnic at G****vine campground where the forks of the Gila converge.

Really?? an edit on that? Think of small purple fruit used to make wine
  • I was raised in silver city and retired in Elephant Butte N M. First thing do not take take 152 into hillsboro called the Black Range its fine in a vehicle, 550 is a cake walk compared to 152, We have camped at the city of rock excellent camping with the cliff Dwelling with in 50 miles. The N m state parks are nice and cheap. Pinon Altos has decent camping in the mt close to town.
  • Stayed at the Rose Valley Ranch for a week would stay there again - The Cliff dwelling was great - we also drove east on the Scenic Byway - it was a great drive

You mean Gr-apes, before they turn to raisins? The funky word filter here has gone overboard.
