Some National Parks May Re-open (Under state funding)

National Parks

While our representatives in Washington work through their differences, it appears that those of us who enjoy the National Parks may have the option of visiting them very soon.

I'm posting this for information and not to start a political free-for-all. So no bashing please.
  • Arizona and Uta ave both offered to fund the national parks most notably the Grand Canyon.

However, the federal government may not be able to accept the offer.

That's because there is nothing in place that would be needed to PAY them BACK.

They would have to pass a bill to create a program to pay them back and we all know that's not going to happen any time soon enough for the state to fund keeping them open. :B

How about we honor the OP request; I'm posting this for information and not to start a political free-for-all. So no bashing please. just stay with the parks subject.
  • I think a good plan B for the interim would be to visit State Parks where we've always wanted to stay. Trips to Canada are not out of the question either.

My question is, with all these states scrambling for funds to maintain their highways, & making cuts to other projects that were deemed as absolutely necessary, where do they suddenly find money to fund National Parks & Forests.
When this is all over, will they again be crying that they are broke? :h

The article touches on it. The amount of lost revenue to the states due to closure of the parks exceeds the cost to open them. Many businesses and jobs depend on the tourism. If those businesses and jobs are impacted, then tax revenue is impacted.

Political posts are also against forum rules and will be deleted and/or cause the thread to be locked down.
