South Carlsbad State Beach, California

My wife and I have camped at South Carlsbad for many years and it's one of our favorite campgrounds.

Our daughter and husband recently bought a 40 ft fifth wheel trailer. I noticed on South Carlsbad that they have a limit of 35 feet for trailers. Anyone who's stayed there knows they have some huge sites that could accommodate two 40 footers if you wanted to do so. A 40 ft rig would fit easily in many sites there.

So my question is, does anyone know if they strictly enforce the 35 ft limit or has anyone stayed there with a 40 footer?
  • The last time I was there in 2010 they were beginning to strictly enforce that rule. The problem is not the actual sites, but the turning around to exit. I would not want to try turning around a 40 ft 5th wheel in that campground.
