Stone Mountain, Ga and Golf carts

We have a trip planned to Stone Mountain in the 3rd week of July. Does anyone have any experience with bringing a golf cart to this campground. I've never been there before and wasn't sure if it was allowed and if it was too hilly.

Thanks!
  • Got a response back from stone mountain. Their response was "We do allow any golf cart in the campground. However, if you would like to use your golf cart outside of the campground, they must be street legal and insured."
  • Thanks for the information. I guess we'll skip bringing the golf cart.

We're really excited about going to Stone Mountain because we'll be towing our camper with our new to us TV. Upgraded to a 2500 - diesel.

Double ditto. The campground is not that large and you can easily walk from one end to the other. It's likely you won't spend much time at the camp as it's designed to be a base for visiting the area rather than a resort. Handicap access is available for the park as well as the cg. You can call and ask them other questions http://www.stonemountainpark.com/lodging-camping/camping/Amenities.aspx

When we stayed there a few years ago, we dropped by the Trappist Monastery in Conyers and was able to attend their noon prayers which are open to the public. The chant was great. Mapquest.com gives the best directions to get there:
    Holy Spirit Monastery
    2625 Highway 212 SW
    Conyers, GA 30094
  • Hmmm this is interesting. I looked on their website and saw no mention of it. I emailed them for the specifics. Hope to hear something back positive. We are going in July and have our own golf cart. Wasn't planning on taking it, but this may change things.
  • Hello neighbor small world. We went to stonemountain last jully we brought our golfcart(they are allowed) fun way to see the campground. Bring good shoes we had a ball hiking up the mountain as well as the other trails
  • Was there last fall. Don't recall any golfcarts either. Depending on loop, the office can be a bit of a hike. Not too hilly for bikes.
  • Been there a few times and dont recall golf carts I think the way the campground is spread out it might be to hilly I always stay in lower area by the pool and a golf cart is not necessary as things a short walk the other section you have to go on a main road to get too not sure I would drive a cart on that road
