If you were leaving the Memphis area heading to Destin where would be a good stop with a 2 or 3 hour trip the next day. Maybe a COE or State Park.

When we stayed at Florala SP a couple of years ago it was in the midst of being transferred from state control over to the city. At that time it was nice, but in dire need of up keep. Laundry equipment was yanked out and the restrooms weren't the cleanest. Great for a one night pass stay over. View of the lake and everything else was terrific. Just shoddy facilities.

Oak Mountain State Park right outside of Birmingham. Wife and I spent several days there last year

Frank Jackson State Park is 1:36 hours (78 miles) to Destin per google maps. Stayed there once several years ago on our way south. Pulled in real late at night and left real early in the morning, so we have not much to report other than it was tight and crowded. But as memory serves me it was late Friday evening and all the regulars have already staked out their sites awaiting the weekend. Pretty much easy in and out, especially when the beach is you objective. Best I can do.

Ditto on Gunter Hill COE. Stay on the new side, it is great. Full hook up and wide spacious concrete pads.

Gunter Hill COE just about 10 miles off I65 in Montgomery. Take the Selma exit to your right and follow the signs. This is a beautiful COE park. Happy camping..........
