SugarLoaf Key West KOA resort

planning next summers key west trip and researching now.

would like to hear experiences from people who stayed at this park in florida.

We are normally state park people but we decided to give our daughter a KOA and rent a pontoon boat for the day and take advantage of all the KOA kid fun stuff. (will be bit of a test for me and hubby since we haven't done a commercial cg in a very long time, but this KOA seems nice)
Has a bus nearby into key west so we don't have to drive and other amenities that seem worth it for this trip.

wandering thru info on the net the only thing I saw in campground review is sites are on the tight side (which one would expect)

thanks so much for any info. you can give regarding this key west koa.
  • Thanks very much everyone.

this helps. I was worried about the site because we have a 40 ft toyhauler with slides on both sides. Instead of booking online I best call and chat with them to be sure the site fits my big rv.

Dry Tortugas--a definite side trip we will try :)

    appeciate the info.
  • We stayed there this winter for 4 days. Sites were tight, but we could have put out our awning if we had been there long enough each day to need it. We are in a smaller unit, 20' Pleasureway. Restrooms were new and clean. Laundry was convenient. Yes, I used it. Only being there for a few days we did not take advantage of other amenities as we spent a day going to the Dry Tortugas and the other days in Key West.

It was more expensive than the state parks, but cheaper than others that close to Key West. We made our plans late in the year so we were limited with campground choices. I would stay there again were I to go back.
  • We've stayed at that KOA for three weeks during Feb. a few years a go. We loved it. Yes it was pricey, but what isn't in the Keys in the winter time.
Our space was big enough for us to deploy our awning. Met some great people and the marina was nice.
One bonus was the restaurant across the street, Mangrove Momma's. Great place where everyone meets at night.
We'd stay there again and we camped in a fifth wheel.
  • Worst ever and I generally like KOA

Very tight site could not put awning our and it cost me 93 a night in Feb of 2011

    Very crowded and a zoo
