suggestions for camping around Vicksburg

DH and I are planning a visit in our 34' MH (with toad) to the area to explore Civil War History mid-September. Any suggestions on campgrounds, where to eat, what to do, what to ignore? Have never been close to this area, and will be traveling from Destin, Florida. Any "don't miss" along the way? Suggestions on best route to take? Thanks.
  • We stayed at Rivertown about three years ago. It was severely mediocre all expect the fire ants. They were very good at defending everything we needed to touch.
If Ameristar is not a huge cost penalty, even as a never gambler, it might be a better choice.

  • X2 on the Ameristar and a plus is the Ameristar has good food and a shuttle that will pick you up at your RV door and bring you back.Nice clean park with easy access We stay there every time we go that way to Florida.

  • The Ameristar Casino has an RV park that is very nice and priced right. We stopped there last fall for an overnite stay, very quiet and roomy sites. Very easy on&off the interstate
    Definitely would stay again.
