Things to do in Biloxi/Gulfport MS

Hello. Looking for things to do in the areas mentioned. will be there the 1st week of July. I have found stuff to do, but looking for other recommendations. have plans on the National sea shore, maybe the maritime museum. will probably do a canoe ride on the wolf river. Ive tried looking up visitor guides, but haven't found anything with any real good info. most states/areas have gone away from printed guides. And their online guides are average at best? looking for attractions and good food.

Ideas?

Go west along the beach to visit Waveland, the town where Katrina came ashore. Nice places to eat and a great little museum about what little was left after Katrina hit.
Buchanan State Park is just a few miles west of town, we stayed May of 2018 for several days.
Stennis is really worth seeing also as mentioned above.

According to what I can find Buchanan State Park is in PA and google maps show no town of Stennis in LA. Did you mean Stennis, MS? And was it Buccaneer State Park, Mississippi?

Thanks everyone. we are staying at Gulf Beach RV Resort. definitely doing the National Seashore. I remember looking somewhere online there was a maritime museum with buoys and stuff outside along with indoor exhibits, but have not been able to find it.

I mentioned this in my post..maybe it's what you are referring to.

Gulfport has the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies..dolphins, sea turtles, seals...I think you need to make reservations online.

Thanks. I did look at that, but I didn't see what I was looking for. We will check it out.

My suggestions:
On Hwy 90 along the beach, watch for the wood sculptures made from trees that were downed by Katrina...they are beautiful.

Gulfport has the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies..dolphins, sea turtles, seals...I think you need to make reservations online.

Biloxi has a lighthouse and my favorite restaurant there is McElroy's HarborHouse.

The Beau Rivage casino in Biloxi has the BEST Sunday brunch, including delicious bread pudding for dessert.

Take the bridge over Biloxi Bay to Ocean Springs, MS. Visit the Walter Anderson Museum of Art (beautiful watercolors) or Shearwater Pottery. And Aunt Jenny's Catfish Restaurant is famous there.

There used to be so many fun places along the beach for children, but so many of those businesses were destroyed by Katrina.

btw, if you need an RV park, we have stayed at Majestic Oaks in Biloxi...not on the beach, but a few streets away. We have also stayed at Cajun RV on Hwy 90, Biloxi, and I think it had damage, but I believe it is now open.

Go to gulfcoast.org and scroll to the bottom of the screen...you will see "Visitor Guide"..digital or they will mail you a copy.

Not knowing where you are staying in the area, but Davis Bayou Campground, which is part of Gulf Islands National Seashore is a real nice COE campground. Just east of Biloxi 10 or so miles.
And for food โ€“ in Bay St. Louis, is The Blind Tiger. If you're a burger fan, it is THE best. Family friendly bar & grill type place that can't be beat!!!

Blow fly inn on back bay I think in dIberville. Great seafood and relaxing view of the bay. Several casinos in Biloxi/Gulfport area. And yes Buffet is back. He opened in the original area that he planned on opening but the first deal fell through. He then went to the back bay but not enough traffic. He is now beach front down on the east end across from what had been a Grand at one time.

I believe the Blow Fly Inn in Gulfport was bought out by a fast food seafood restaurant from Biloxi....that's what they told us a cpl years back...C

Our Lady of the Gulf Crab Fest is in Bay St. Louis that week. Any food in old town Bay St. Louis is good. Trapani's, The Blind Tiger, Cuz's, Buoys Bar, etc.. Most all is beach front dining.

Margaritaville in Biloxi? When did it reopen? The one on the Back Bay has been closed about 5 years. Did they build somewhere else?
