Thousand trails campgrounds near wauchula, fl

I hope to get a reservation in the thousand trails campground in or near wauchula, fl during Jan I realize I can only stay 14 days and then have to move out to another campground for 7 days and then back into another or the same campground for another 14 days..I am wondering if any of our rv.net friends have stayed in that campground or whether some may be planning to stay there during the winter. I am wondering also how good the campground may be. I have never stayed there and was just wanting any information anyone can give me. thanks in advance..

  • We were there twice in Jan. 2007. The first stay, we got a fhu site. The second stay we had to wait 2 nights to get a fhu site. Overall, the CG was OK. Lots to do and see in a few hours drive.
We spent our out time at Little Charlie Creek RV Park, just a few miles away. It was Passport America and the rate was good.
  • It is a good park for us. We like the spots down by the river. Not FHU, but they do have a pump out service. The sites down by the river are wider and no traffic noise. We stayed there the passed three years.
  • I was a member for 8 years and found non of the parks were really being maintained correctly. Most of these parks are run down and look shabby. If price is a factor okay but there are many other parks I'd put my annual dues against than these parks. Many of the parks have muddy unlevel sites and the Mgr will tell you he's on it. Next year you see the sites still haven't been fixed with an answer of I have no money to do anything.

We are way better off not being members anymore, They have been losing members big time this is why they are letting the public in also.

  • We go there every winter. Really like it. The people are very friendly and always enjoy our stay.
  • Peace River TT is one of the smaller parks but nice on the river. Since ELS has bought TT they have been improving many of the parks. Try Orlando on your way home.

That may have been true for the pre-encore years, but probably not any more.

I've had a platinum for ~3 years and have stayed in TT's from orlando to pacific city OR. None have been run down. I'll take a TT over a regular rv park any day as they generally have much larger sites.

    Cramping isnt camping.
