- donkeydewExplorersage brush and more sage brush
it is high desert across nevada desolate but beautiful (to me)
all the towns along 80 have a lot of history if you take the time stop and smell the sage brush - dicknellenExplorer III-70 is also hwy 50, you can stay on 50 by getting off I 70 at Salina then 50 connects with I-15, then goes south on I-15 for 12 miles and connects back with 50 W to Delta then 50 W from delta. Just after you arrive in Nevada you can visit Great Basin NP, I enjoyed my tour thru the cave, DW stayed in gift shop & visitors center. We have gone this way and highways are good. We top off our gas in Delta & Ely. If you want more info on this route let me know. We live near hwy 50. Regards, Dick

Thanks for the info. the only time schedule we have is that we're waiting for our 30" motorhome to be repaired in Fort Worth. May be on the road next week and need to be in Concord, CA first week in Oct. Yes, we are looking at I-70 and reconnect to I-80. Motorhome newbies starting on our first trip west. Mike
When will you be doing this trip? Are you on a time schedule. Currently Reno, Carson City, Fallon are getting a lot of smoke from the wild fires West of Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. Was very bad yesterday. We like to travel on 50, in Ely a great working railroad museum. 50 is the route of the pony express, some great old mining towns along the way. Are you traveling on I-70 then going to connect with I-80? What type of rv? Good travels, Dick - drillkingExplorerIf you have the time, the steam train ride in Ely and the museum are worth doing!

I-80 for most part is a drag.
X2! after Wendover, it's pretty much a lousy slog of a drive until you get to Reno.
it's a great road but really drags on for as fast as you can go.
really nothing to see from the Utah border to the California border. - Yes, it is a nice two lane highway. Highway 50 is also a two lane. It does have some ups and downs. Keep an eye on your fuel gauge! Lots of nothing but scenery!
- mikathiExplorerHwy 93 to 50, is it RV friendly? We've never been, we're newbies and just trying to educate ourselves before we go. Thanks in advance, Mike
- deleted-2ExplorerMade that drive zillions of times when I was working.
Loooooooooong and boring...until Reno then things get a little more interesting.
Be advised the CHP has been attempting to stop the NASCAR types from Truckee to Auburn.
Might be some T-Storms around Donner Summit\Castle Peak\Truckee
Far as I know there are no construction slow downs Westbound between the summit and Sacramento.
